How Recruitment websites can be improved…

Joanne Binnington, Managing Director of Totally Childcare, has produced a report based on the findings from a qualitative market research campaign to discover how parents find their nannies. The purpose behind the market research was to investigate how online recruitment websites are being used and whether they are working for nannies and parents.

Of parents asked 0% have managed to find a nanny using the Internet, 35% have never used the Internet but 69% said they would use the Internet if they got the reassurance and support they needed.

Joanne Binnington, Managing Director of Totally Childcare said, "It surprised me that so few parents use the Internet to find nannies when there are so many online recruitment sites”.

Further investigation found that 74% of the parents agreed that the reason that so few parents have used a website was the lack of trust and reassurance you get from using a website to find childcare. When using online recruitment websites, 35% of the parents asked agreed that they would look for testimonials from other parents that the website had worked for them before using the website themselves. However 93% of the parents asked agreed that if they could look at references and CRB checks on the
nannies this would help to reassure them that the website could work for them.

Interestingly, 90% of parents were aware that online recruitment websites existed and 80% said they thought that other parents would most likely use the Internet to search for a nanny if all these issues could be resolved.

The massive difference in parent’s actual usage of online recruitment sites and how they think other parents use them strongly indicates low self-confidence and trust when using an online recruitment sites.

The three main conclusions from this market research is to make the site easy to use with lots of reassurance so people can trust the site knowing it is completely safe to do so, giving them the confidence in looking for a nanny in a more easy and cost efficient way.
